Geodynamics: Dynamics of Earth and rocky planets including mantle convection,
continental deformation, plate tectonics (origin/style/evolution), and heat
flow, rheology.
Computational mathematics: Development of new finite
element, and finite-element-like-particle methods for solid mechanics/fluid
dynamics; Interactive inversion; Realization of novel algorithms in efficient,
parallel form.
