organisation of clouds on scales ranging from the very small to synoptic, and the forcings that drive
this organisation
Remote sensing of clouds and precipitation; spaceborne active sensors (CloudSat/CALIPSO); using remote
sensing measurements to improve our understanding of how cloud water is distributed in the atmosphere and
the role of drizzle in the atmospheric water cycle
Evaluation and improvement of numerical forecast model representations of clouds and precipitation;
development of forward models for this purpose
