Poisoning of catalytic surfaces
Dr. Aidan Sudbury

Abstract
A number of gases can bind to the sites of a lattice. If a molecule of
a gas attempts to bind to a site already occupied by the molecule of
another gas then they react and both sites are left free. We consider
the conditions under which one gas can "poison" the surface by occupying
all the sites of the lattice. A martingale argument is used to resolve
many of the issues.
