In this first of a series of screenings I will show and discuss OUTSIDE IN, a fully computer-animated movie that has won innumerable international prizes and is arguably the best computer-animated mathematical movie ever produced.
Seeing is believing in this mind-boggling "proof by video" that the sphere can be turned outside in allowing self-intersections, but no cuts and no singularities at any time of the deformation process.
For a preview and more information check out the movies webpage at http://www.geom.umn.edu/docs/outreach/oi
This movie is rated MM for you-don't-need-to-know-Much-Maths.
