Surfing on Clouds

All you need is a glider. Each year from September through to November the perfect conditions exist over northern Queensland for the formation of a particularly spectacular cloud called the morning glory. This is the name given to a set of cloud lines which represent one of the finest examples of non-linear waves in the atmosphere.
In this talk we will show video footage of the morning glory in action,
and show why it is so good for gliding on. We shall discuss how it
develops and show how it can be studied using a numerical weather.
