These talks will be self-contained presentations of mathematical concepts and theorems. They are intended to be accessible to all mathematics
students.  Coffee, tea and drinks will be provided.

The talk will show how the same simple model can be used to describe drunk trying to get home, a  gambler trying to quit while they're ahead,  the agitation of particles of cigarette smoke, the formation of empires in 1 and 2-dimensions and the likelihood that proteins from two different animals have a common origin.
