These talks will be self-contained presentations of mathematical concepts
and theorems. They are intended to be accessible to all mathematics
students. Coffee, tea and drinks will be provided.

THE GEOMETRICAL SUPERMODELS IN FULL 3D
Dr Burkard Polster
Dept. of Mathematics & Statistics
Monash University
Put on stereo goggles and tour a world of mathematical beauty. Learn about the mathematics of 3D vision, witness as the all-time geometrical supermodels (aka the Platonic and Archimedean solids) get tamed on a giant screen, be enchanted by 4-dimensional shadow play, and hold on to your seats as some serious collisions with the 4th dimension rock the lecture theatre.
Target audience: People who like beautiful mathematics, fancy computer animation, and/or 3Deee toys.
Important notice: To be able to safely contain some really big and
ferocious geometries, this presentation will take place in lecture
theatre S6.
