These talks will be self-contained presentations of mathematical concepts and theorems. They are intended to be accessible to all mathematics students.
 
 

Simon Singh, highly respected UK mathematician, author, journalist and science communicator, has set up a schools program about codes, following the success of his Cipher Challenge. The program is touring schools with entertaining classes and lectures on codes and code breaking, and a genuine Enigma machine from World War II. Due to Simon's commitments to his current project, he employed Claire Ellis to take the Enigma Project to the public.

With a Bachelor of Science in Human Genetics, Claire's background is in cracking codes of the biological, rather than mathematical kind. She has a Master of Science in Science Communication from Imperial College and wealth of experience in communicating science to a variety of audiences.
