A Maths magazine for students..

Function is a refereed mathematics journal aimed principally at students in the upper years of secondary schools, and more generally to anyone who is interested in mathematics.

In Function there is something for everyone who is interested in the wonders of mathematics, because it deals with mathematics in all its aspects: pure mathematics, statistics, mathematics in computing, applications of mathematics to the natural and social sciences, history of mathematics, mathematical games, careers in mathematics, and mathematics in society. The items that appear in each issue of Function include articles on a broad range of mathematical topics, news items on recent mathematical advances, book reviews, problems, letters, anecdotes and cartoons.

In recent issues there have been articles on the mathematics of voting, game theory, the mathematics of a drawbridge, how to construct fractal images on a computer, how to work out the length of a day without looking at the newspaper, mathematics and malaria, and many other topics.

Function is produced by the Department of Mathematics at Monash University and it is published five times a year.
It was founded in 1977 by Prof G B Preston.

Function is widely read in Victoria, Australia, but we also have subscribers and contributors in other parts of the world, including Germany, USA, India, The Netherlands, Brazil, Spain and South Africa.
